Avechi is an associate practicing in the corporate group at Ormston List Frawley LLP. As part of the team, Avechi can advise on corporate and commercial transactions, commercial agreements and other matters relating to corporate or securities laws.
Avechi completed her law degree at the University of Ottawa and was a Campus Ambassador for the Faculty of Law. Avechi participated in two international exchanges, the first to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where she learned about the startup culture in Israel. In her second exchange, she went to the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras where she focused on Intellectual Property law from both the Canadian and United States perspective. Her thesis paper in law school focused on Corporate Governance, specifically the rise of Independent Directors in United States Boards of Directors following the implementation of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, 2002. She was also the Vice President of Finance for the Black Law Students Association.
Avechi was called to the bar in 2021. Prior to joining Ormston List Frawley LLP, Avechi articled at a boutique litigation firm in Toronto. She has appeared before the Superior Court of Justice.
Avechi was the 2020 Chair of the Ontario Bar Associations Student Division and is actively involved in the OBA. In her spare time, Avechi is an avid reader of non-fiction literature, she enjoys High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workouts and loves cooking new recipes.
